KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — Examination candidates at all local schools must submit a Covid-19 screening declaration form daily before entering their examination halls, according to the Education Ministry.

In its frequently asked questions (FAQ) on the New Norm Guidelines for School Management and Operations 2.0 available on its website, the ministry said this was to ensure candidates’ current health status was made known to invigilators.

GCSE and A-level exams will be delayed next summer to give children the chance to catch up on lost lesson time, Gavin Williamson has indicated.

The Education Secretary told The Telegraph he was studying plans for a “short delay” to public exams “with the aim of creating more teaching time”.

Sources suggested exams could be pushed back to June and July, but would not cut into the scheduled summer holidays.

Students in England will be able to use coursework as well as their mock exam results to appeal the grades they were awarded after exams were cancelled due coronavirus, Ofqual has said.

In an eleventh-hour intervention ahead of A-level results day, education secretary Gavin Williamson on Wednesday pledged that students could use mock results to progress to jobs and higher education if these were higher than their awarded grades, but that schools would have to prove the mocks were valid

Poor children, boys, summer born pupils and those from ethnic minority backgrounds could all be disadvantaged by exams being scrapped, education experts warned today.

Teenagers will be given GCSE and A-Level grades based on teacher assessment this year because exams have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
